Love and Statistics

01:11

Assalammualaikum, dear beautiful souls

If you ever wondered what type of a person I am, I would put it this way...

I am supposed to settle this individual statistic assignment by using the method of Independent sample T-Test which means I need to compare the means of two entirely separate groups of people whose scores are independent of each other. Then I am intrigued by the name of the authors of Statistics for Psychology (3rd edition) who are Arthur Aron and Elaine N.Aron.Most of the times in the Stats 1998 class when my mind is no longer focusing on the formulas and deviated from the main topic,I was wondering whether they are, husband and wife.If so, they are POWER COUPLE!Come on, they both, together,  write statistics!

So tonight, when I should be thinking how to process those data in IBM SPSS, here I am searching about Arthur and Elaine.Hahaha.Fortunately, I found this Love in the Lab . (this is a link)

"Around the time of the Summer of Love in 1967, Arthur Aron, then a UC Berkeley graduate student in psychology, kissed fellow student Elaine Spaulding in front of Dwinelle Hall. What they felt at that moment was so profound that they soon married and teamed up to investigate the mysteries of attraction and intimacy."

Go and read the rest there, an interesting love story ;)
Hey, I might be astray from my main purpose of doing this assignment but who knows I might fall in love with statistics because of them!Let's look at the bright side, should we?
I am a no math person, so maybe this is one of the ways for me to build an attraction to statistics.Who knows right? Jokes aside, I really respect those people in a relationship who keep pushing each other to reach their highest potential.

Dr. Alizaman D Gamon ( I took three classes consecutively in three semesters with him)
One of my inspirations to keep learning.Thank you.

My one favourite lecturer, Dr. Alizaman D Gamon always mentioned in class how he and his wife keep competing with each other to publish journal and reports. Now, that is a healthy competition.Imagine how beautiful it is to connect emotionally, physically and intellectually to another person. To keep improving and supporting each other, that is the gist of a relationship.
Grow together, shine together!I would say that is the vital part of a romantic relationship, to keep striving for the best, for each other. To gleam in happiness when your partner achieves their dreams, that is the greatest achievement of all.

So I guess, I should go back to my work by now.

I hope you enjoy reading this, now can I be another Alain de Botton, explaining love not only in a philosophical way but statistically.Oh my, I really admire all the great thinkers and intellectuals.May we are able to use the greatest gift from Him, the mind (aql') to keep spreading knowledge to the humankind, insyaAllah.

One of my fav lines from Alain de Botton (Essays in Love)

The language of the eye stubbornly resists translation into the language of words.

Love always,
Farrah Wahida.
